Base Village is the newest and most built-out part of Snowmass Village, and this fall it has the fewest open doors. By November 1, every restaurant on the Base Village list is closed. In the Base Village retail list, only two businesses are marked open for the full season. Over the same weeks, the older Snowmass Center keeps its whole published roster open. The village doesn't reopen all at once on opening day either. Apart from a one-week break at Alux Spalon, the reopenings start November 20, six days before the lifts, and run through December.
The Four Doors at Snowmass Center
Snowmass Tourism's fall 2026 seasonal closures list sorts businesses by district. Snowmass Center is the one district where every listed business shows the same status. Ajax Supply, Clark's Groceries, The Snowmass Dispensary and Sundance Liquor & Gifts are all marked open all season. That covers groceries, hardware and supplies, and a liquor store, which are the errands that keep a household running through November.
The rest of the village keeps a few places open, spread out:
| District | Listed open through the fall 2026 off-season |
|---|---|
| Snowmass Center | Ajax Supply, Clark's Groceries, The Snowmass Dispensary, Sundance Liquor & Gifts |
| Snowmass Mall dining | The Tavern, Zane's Tavern |
| Snowmass Mall retail | Challenge Aspen, Christy Sports on reduced hours, Daly Bottle & Grain Fine Food, Guapodog |
| Base Village | Eye Pieces of Snowmass, which may reduce hours, and TAC Fitness at One Snowmass East |
| Elsewhere in the village | The Daly Diner; Taster's, closed Thanksgiving Day |
On the Mall, The Tavern and Zane's Tavern are the two restaurants listed as open through the fall season. With the Daly Diner and Taster's, that makes four places to sit down for a meal in the village without driving to Aspen. Even those may not keep full hours. The same Snowmass Tourism page says Monday and Tuesday closures are common in the off-season and that hours can change as reopening dates get closer. It recommends calling ahead.
Base Village Closes in Stages
Base Village closes gradually. Crepe Therapy Cafe closed September 27, Slope & Hatch at The Collective on September 28, and JUS Snowmass with GG's Market on September 29. Aurum Food & Wine and Montevino followed on October 3, Sundae Ice Cream on October 4, Kenichi Snowmass on October 10, and The Lounge at Limelight on October 18. Four Mountain Kids and both Four Mountain Sports locations in Base Village closed October 4. Ro + Fern closed September 30.
The Viceroy's three outlets are the last to close. Cafe V, Lift Line and Toro are listed as open until November 1, so for the last days of October they are still the only Base Village restaurants open. Alux Spalon also takes a break, from November 2 to November 9.
Indoor community space is closed for this stretch too. The Collective Snowmass lists its Game Lounge & Selfie Den as closed for the off-season from Monday, September 28, through Thursday, November 26.
The Mall spreads its closures over a longer stretch. The New Belgium Ranger Station and The Stew Pot closed September 27, and Fuel Cafe on September 30. Grub Thai followed October 1 and Venga Venga October 3. Rock Island Oyster Bar & Grill closes October 19, Gorsuch Ski Cafe October 24, and Après Deck, the space formerly known as Stark's Alpine Grill and Viewline, on October 25. Because the Mall has two taverns open all fall and Base Village has no restaurants open after November 1, the Mall stays the busier of the two districts through November.
A Few Dates Before November
The closures are not the only things on the calendar. On Friday, October 30, from 3 to 5 p.m., Anderson Ranch Arts Center holds Spooktacular Creepy Crafts. The free family event includes costume crafts, trick-or-treating through the studios, a costume contest, hot chocolate and treats.
Bus service changes in November. The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority's fall schedule runs through November 22, with the Snowmass Valley route operating seven days a week and three added trips. Winter service starts November 23.
Six Days of Reopenings, Starting November 20
Aspen Snowmass lists November 26, 2026 as the projected opening day for Snowmass. Many businesses reopen before that. Here is the order from the published reopening dates:
- November 20. Grub Thai, Smash & Dash Burger and Kenichi Snowmass return, reopening both the Mall and Base Village on the same day.
- November 21. Gorsuch Ski Cafe reopens on the Mall.
- November 23. This is the busiest day. In Base Village, the Viceroy's Cafe V, Lift Line and Toro reopen. On the Mall, Après Deck, One Vibe, Snowmass T-Shirt Co and Snowmass Trading Company come back. RFTA's winter schedule starts the same day.
- November 25. The Lounge at Limelight reopens, along with Four Mountain Sports' Mall Shop and Pavilion.
- November 26. On opening day, Aurum Food & Wine, Base Camp Bar and Grille, Crepe Therapy Cafe, The Stew Pot, New Belgium Ranger Station, Incline Sports, Snowmass Sports, Four Mountain Kids, and the Four Mountain Sports rental and retail shops in Base Village reopen.
- November 27. Venga Venga and Sunglass Panache return the day after the lifts start turning.
Rock Island Oyster Bar & Grill lists its return only as mid-November, and JUS Snowmass and Gorsuch's retail shop give similar mid-November timing. Several Mall listings, including Il Poggio, Snacfood and Snowmass Lanes' 105 Pizza + Bowl, have no dates posted. A phone call will give a more reliable answer than the table for those.
Opening Day Falls on Thanksgiving
November 26, 2026, is Thanksgiving Day, which affects the off-season list in one specific way. Taster's, which is open every other day of the season, is closed on Thanksgiving. So on the morning the lifts open, one of the four restaurants that stayed open all fall is closed. It is also the day The Collective's off-season closure ends.
On the mountain, the main project to watch is Ullrhof. The Aspen Times reports that the mid-mountain restaurant began a complete rebuild in summer 2025 and is scheduled to reopen for the 2026/27 season. It will be Aspen Snowmass's first fully electric restaurant and will seat more than 600. The same report says Aspen Snowmass is joining the Ikon Base Pass this winter. The pass includes five days at Snowmass with select blackout dates, and it is not valid at Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands or Buttermilk.
When The Collective reopens, it is adding new winter programming. Collective Conversations is a series where community members present on topics they care about. The lineup also includes Community Lunch & Learn Workshops, wellness sessions and a Sunday Social Club.
The Last Reopenings Come in December
A handful of businesses reopen after the lifts. The Edge, listed under the Timberline, reopens December 1, Ro + Fern on December 7, and Pinecreek Cookhouse on December 10. Separately, Snowmass Tourism's winter 2026–27 announcement says the Timberline Condominiums finished the last stage of a $25 million, multi-year renovation, which covered the exterior, common areas, infrastructure and guest amenities.
The Stonebridge Inn reopens in December, though no specific day has been announced. The Aspen Times reports that the 93-room hotel, managed by CoralTree Hospitality, is finishing a $15.7 million renovation. It notes that the Stonebridge opened shortly after Snowmass welcomed its first guests in 1967. The seasonal list shows no dates for Heather's, the hotel's restaurant, so its reopening is not yet scheduled.
